Kahului Harbor FMA, Maui

Location: Kahului Harbor is the primary port on the northern coast of Maui. Area 1 is located between Piers 1 and 2, seaward boundary a line from the base of Pier 2 to the southernmost comer of the building on Pier 1. Area 2 is located between Pier 2 and Puunene Avenue extension, seaward boundary a line from the northwestern corner of Pier 2 to the shoreline at the Puunene Avenue extension. Area 3 fronts the boat launching ramp at Kahului Harbor Park, seaward boundary a line following the northern portion of the eastern shoreline of the Park, to the shoreline along Kahului Beach Road. Permitted activities shall not be construed as allowing activities within any portion of the harbor which may otherwise be prohibited by laws or rules of the Department of Transportation.

Permitted (in Areas 1, 2, and 3)

  • To use crab nets, and hand nets for shrimp.
  • Commercial Marine licensees with a Bait License may take bait-fishes.
  • Licensed pond owners or operators may take young mullet (pua) for stocking their fishpond.

Prohibited

  • To use any type of net except as described in permitted activities above.
